Use this homemade kanten as an ingredient for homemade desserts or tokoroten. Kanten, made from tengusa (amphiroa) seaweed, is calorie-free and contains approximately 80% dietary fiber. It can also be used as an offering during traditional ceremonies such as jōtōshiki (frame-laying ceremony) or other religious rites.

To use, simply dissolve one stick of Kanten in 600 ml of water.
